Syracusae was founded on the southeast coast of Sicily as a colony of Corinth in 734/3 B.C. Initially concentrated on the coastal island Ortygia, the settlement moved to the mainland and developed into an important and powerful urban center. Syracusae would, in turn, establish secondary colonies: Akrai (664 B.C.), Kasmenai (624 B.C.), and Kamarina (559 B.C.).

Other cities work, so there might be an errant/un-escaped " (or some other ) somewhere in the JSON.
